Domestic career

At the age of sixteen, Ravindra Jadeja made his debut for India’s Under-19 team in 2005. He was included in the Indian team that competed in the Sri Lankan 2006 U/19 Cricket World Cup. India came in second place, and Jadeja had an impressive three-wicket haul against Pakistan in the final match.

International Career

In the series finale on February 8, 2009, he made his debut for his country by scoring 60*, suffering India’s defeat. Jadeja faced criticism for not scoring quickly enough during India’s World Twenty20 2009 defeat to England.

Jadeja, who didn’t do much with the bat, grabbed 24 wickets in the historic 4–0 home Test series victory against Australia in February–March 2013. By dismissing Australian captain Michael Clarke five times in the series, Jadeja secured his position in the team as an all-rounder. He was named Man of the Match for his seven wicket haul, which included a five-for in the second innings of the last Test match. He was important in India’s victory in the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. With 12 wickets, he was the tournament’s leading wicket-taker and was awarded the Golden Ball.

In a Test match against Sri Lanka on March 5, 2022, Jadeja scored 175* to break Kapil Dev’s 35-year record. By scoring a No. 7 or below, he broke the record for the highest score. In the next two innings, he took 5/41 and 4/46, scoring match figures of 9/87 to help India defeat Sri Lanka by an innings and 222 runs.
He was appointed vice-captain of India for the away ODI series against the West Indies in July 2022.

Jadeja was included in the Indian team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in September 2022, however he was unable to participate because of a serious knee injury. Jadeja becomes the fastest Indian to take 250 wickets and score more than 2500 runs in Test cricket after recovering for five months.
